  • The Icons Show - Full Circle Gallery, Leeds.

Last Friday The Hang Gang curated the Icons Show at the Full Circle Gallery in Leeds, an event I participated in as well as went along to for the evening. The gallery is a great space with plenty of designer and vintage toys on display (and for sale) and show room across two floors.

There was a good crowd of people and quite a few of the artists involved in the show went along as well, including Rich Page (umetoys who kindly let me steal these photos), Stuart Witter, Hugh Rose, Map Map, Luc from Triclops and RUNDMB- all smashing guys who also brought along show-stopping customs.

Here's my effort, he's a 1000% BearBrick and just a shade under 28 inches in height;-

Hope you like him, when he becomes available on the Hang Gang store I'll post up links.
    Thanks!

  • Debris Japan custom

For my New York Comic Con appearance I painted up a few customs to be displayed at the booth whilst I was there, (the Spinach-Eatin' Sailor was one) here is the second. He was actually finished up in my hotel room in NY a few days before the convention, quite last minute!! It's a Debris Japan figure by Restore. He wasn't on display long as somebody bought him pretty quickly, and here is a photo his new owner took of him;-

As with several detailed sculpts I've painted up, I followed the lines and and form to bring out the character of the sculpt rather than impose my design upon it.
    Hope you like him!
    Thanks,

  • NYCC!

I returned from New York earlier this week, and I'm still coming down from the dizzying high of both the city and the Comic Con!
Regarding the city itself, Kelly & I saw all the touristy sights, walked mile upon mile and ate roughly a ton of quality food each.

I thought that NYCC would be good, but I had no idea just how big it was and just how good it would be! The place is HUGE! You'd need at least 2 full days there just to get around all the booths and halls. Whilst I was there I had three signings; Toy Tokyo on the Friday night (6-7pm followed by an after party at ToyTokyo itself) MyPlasticHeart from 11am-noon on the Saturday immediately followed by a couple of hours at the Tenacious Toys booth.

Friday night signing at the Toy Tokyo booth;-

Signing at the Tenacious Toys booth;-

All three signings went extremely well! It's quite a shock to the system to have people queueing up to meet you, have a chat and get things signed! I did sketches, signed my toys they bought and drew faces on blank platform toys. It was so busy at the MyPlasticHeart signing that I stayed an extra 10 minutes to finish off signing things!
After the signings, Kelly & I grabbed a quick bite to eat a look around the Cultyard and then went on to the Clutter booth where I'd been invited by Nick to sit and paint up one of their Toy Princes that they'd had cast up for the event, which again went really well!

Then later at the Clutter booth, painting one of their Toy Princes;-

I met so many great people, wonderful artists and friends. It really felt like a life-changing event for me.
    Thanks!

  • The Spinach Eatin' Sailorman

Hello! Here's the reveal of the 8" custom Munny I painted up for last week's NYCC. He was on display at the Tenacious Toys booth (#876) so if you were there you might have seen him in the flesh.
He's definitely one of my own personal favourites so far, hope you like him too!

  • Tales from the Sneaky Crypt show

Next weekend I have pieces in two shows - one at the Icons show (curated by the Hang Gang) in Leeds and Tales from the Sneaky Crypt - Sneaky Raccoon's anniversary show at Kidrobot London. Here's the flyer for the latter, with a sneak peek of my piece that'll be there.

    That's him on the right.
There's a Facebook group that has also been set up for the event here;-
